Tired of your go-to local park? Want to get out of your hood? Why not mix it up?! Grab your kiddos, dust off your explorers hat and hop on over to one of these hidden garden gems. We’ve rounded up the best secret gardens and parks right here in San Francisco. All you need to do is go, go go!

Shakespeare Garden, Golden Gate Park

Why it’s great: Located between California Academy of Sciences and the SF Botanical Gardens, this often overlooked nook is a peaceful retreat within the bustle of Golden Gate Park. Inspired by Shakespeare plays, the garden features a pretty wrought iron gate, quaint sundial, and quirky stone wall with quotes and passages from famous works by the Bard. Green grassy lawns and benches provide plenty of options for picnicking or throwing down a blanket on a fine summers day.
Where: Martin Luther King Dr, at Music Concourse Dr., Golden Gate Park
Red Tricycle Tip: Bring a picnic! Swing by Arizmendi Bakery, 1331 9th Avenue at Irving/Judah on your way over, and feast upon freshly baked pizza under blossom covered branches.
