Rare and Adorable
A tiny monkey made a big impression when it was born back in February. The little Francois langur monkey is native to China and Vietnam. It’s estimated there are only 2,000 of this endangered species living in the wild today, so this new little guy is a pretty big deal. You can see the Zoo’s Francois Langurs at the Thelma and Henry Doelger Primate Discovery Center.

Advocating Through Art
A new exhibit opened in late March titled “Red Ivory” which shows visitors how the illegal ivory trade could one day mean the extinction of elephants. It features a 6-minute video about the repercussions of poaching and also includes things everyone can do now, to stop this devastating industry. The video runs regularly at the theater at the Primate Discovery Center and it’s free with zoo admission.

Ingrid Turns 1
This spring has been all about giraffe baby-watching. It was a similar scene at the San Francisco Zoo just one year ago, as they awaited the birth of Ingrid. Well, she’s celebrating her first birthday this spring. Be sure to drop by and see how much she’s grown!
