The tech industry is booming in the San Francisco Bay Area but women are still woefully underrepresented in tech jobs. But the future is looking bright! There are tons of organizations that have taken up this cause and are working to bring STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) programs just to girls. By getting girls of all ages excited about coding, technology and science in general, the hope is that will lead to careers in these areas. Read on to find out what girls-only programs are available in your area.

Girls Who Code
Available all across the country, Girls Who Code offers computer science education to girls in 6th – 12th grades. Girls can join a club that meets at their school or local library and gain over 40 hours of computer science instruction including project-based activities to reinforce concepts like conditionals, lists and loops as well as skills like mobile app development. Check out their club search function to find a club near you (or start one at your school). High school juniors and seniors can apply to be part of the 7-week intensive summer program where girls learn the fundamentals of computer science – from robotics to how to build a webpage – while gaining exposure to the tech industry and mentorship from women working in technology.
