Girls Inc. Island City
Girls Inc. Island City has been in the business of “inspiring girls to be strong, smart and bold” since 1964. They offer after-school programs and summer camps for grade school girls (grades 1-5) as well as teen girls (grades 6-12) in the Alameda area. Through their Girls Inc. OperationSMART program, they expose girls to different fields of science and allow them to ask questions of adults with careers in the sciences in a nurturing environment. Older girls can participate in the Girls Dit It program where they they work alongside archeologists, making exciting discoveries that unveil the past and present of their communities and culture.
