Birthday Party Fun at the Park!

Have a summer birthday party to celebrate? Take advantage of Seattle’s best weather and plethora of park locations, and have your child’s birthday party at one of the many fabulous parks in our area. Whether your kid is into sports, animals, or just playing in the sand, we have the perfect park for your birthday party.

Birthday Party at Ross Playfield (4320 4th Ave. NW ) – This neighborhood park in Loyal Heights is an ideal space for a multi-age/family birthday party – it has something for everyone! Older kids can shoot hoops, choose sides for a slugfest on the baseball diamond, or set up a couple of soccer goals in the open field, while younger Seattle kids play in the sand, show off their strength on the jungle gym or sit back and enjoy some “swing” time. The Ross Playfield Shelterhouse is available for rent and features wide doors which roll open onto a large covered entrance. The park’s shelterhouse has a capacity of 35, is ADA accessible and is located near restrooms. Tables and chairs are also available upon request. For reservations call the Loyal Heights Community Center at (206) 684-4052.

Lincoln Park/Colman Pool (8603 Fauntleroy Way SW)  – What’s more fun (and rare in Seattle) than an outdoor pool birthday party? Lincoln Park in West Seattle boasts one of two public outdoor pools in Seattle. Colman Pool sits right on the beach and enjoys a stunning view of Puget Sound. Can you think of better park scenery to have a birthday party? Heated saltwater (85 degrees) fills the pool for a unique swimming experience. The pool also has two diving boards, a giant tube slide, and basketball hoop. There is no kiddie pool, however, so bring floaties for younger children. Parking can be tough on beautiful Seattle summer days – and the pool is quite a hike from the park’s parking lot – so get there early to find parking and advise your guests to do the same. Colman Pool rents for $108 per hour for exclusive use, plus lifeguard fees. For more information or to make a reservation, call 206-684-7494.

Birthday Party at Powell Barnett Park (352 Martin Luther King Jr Way) – Also known as “Castle Park,” this Central District park gets its nickname from its castle-shaped restrooms and is the perfect place to celebrate your King (or Queen) for a Day.  The park’s playground area is phantasmagorical, featuring all sorts of unique structures on which to spin, slide, and climb; perfect for any birthday party. Two picnic tables are conveniently located near the park’s play area and restrooms. Some advance planning, however, may be necessary to ensure availability as picnic tables can’t be reserved.

Birthday Party at Carkeek Park (950 NW Carkeek Park Rd) – A natural gem in northwest Seattle, Carkeek Park is the perfect place to host a birthday party for your budding naturalist. Spend some time exploring the beach or schedule a tour with a guide from the Environmental Learning Center (ELC) and take the kids for a hike on one of Carkeek Park’s many hiking trails. A large open field, ample picnic tables, two covered picnic shelters (available for rent by calling 206-684-4081), and centrally located bathrooms make Carkeek a favorite with birthday party-planning moms. For information about renting the ELC or a guided nature tour call 206-684-0877.

These parks are only the tip of the “great parks” iceberg in Seattle. For more information or to find a park in your area that meets your specific needs, use the Seattle Parks and Recreation Park Finder, where you can search for a park by location, features or name.

Birthday Party at Kelsey Creek Farm Park (410 130th Pl SE) – Have an animal lover in your family? Kelsey Creek Farm Park in Bellevue is the perfect place to celebrate with your future farmer. Kids can take a tour of the park’s farm, meet goats, sheep, pigs, rabbits and more, and even make their own “wooly mammal” birthday party favor to take home. Birthday party events include a one hour tour/craft time and one hour classroom rental and are available year round for kids 2 and up. Farm birthday party events can accommodate groups of up to 30 children and adults. To schedule a birthday party, or for more information, please call 425-452-7688 or email KelseyCreekFarm@bellevuewa.gov. They also have shelters available for rent or just get there early for a good-old-fashioned picnic table.

Pavilion at Redmond’s Grass Lawn Park opens to the park and splash pad area

Birthday Party at Grass Lawn Community Park (Redmond) – Looking for something special and unique for your birthday party? This Eastside park may have just the thing. The upper park features a romantic-looking covered Dome Picnic Shelter just perfect for hosting a tea party or an old-fashioned picnic underneath. The Dome has nine picnic tables and one large barbeque and can accommodate birthday party events of up to 75 people. It is located near the climbing structures, and there is an adjacent meadow for playing party games. On the lower side of the park is the smaller Grass Lawn Pavilion (capacity 30 people) with indoor/outdoor auxiliary heating and a roll up door. It includes tables and chairs, a sink, fireplace, and outdoor water feature. The pavilion is adjacent to public restrooms and near the section of the park with the sensor-activated kid’s splash pad and other playground equipment. In other words, Grass Lawn Community is a wonderful place to have a birthday party. All reservations must be made in-person at the Redmond Parks and Recreation Department in the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center, 16600 NE 80th Street. For more information, visit www.redmond.gov or call 425-556-2300 to check availability.

Birthday Party at Farrel McWhirter Farm Park (19545 Redmond Rd) – Park amenities include horse trails and a horse arena, an Orienteering Course, covered picnic shelters and a selection of birthday party packages for 2-8 year olds which include your choice of a farm tour, pony rides, or wagon rides.
