We’re not sure it’s a secret anymore, but for those not yet in the know—Georgetown is too cool for school. Located in what was (and still is) an industrial area just west of I-5 and the train tracks, just south of downtown and just north of Boeing Field, the hip, bohemian, just slightly grungy-in-a-good-way neighborhood of Georgetown offers more than antique stores, crumbling brick buildings and hipsters sipping cappuccinos; it’s also home to some seriously satisfying grub! Click through for our round-up of the best eats this happening little ‘hood has to offer.

Cafés

Hangar Café
You’ve probably driven past this small red house dozens of times, just up the street from the heart of Georgetown. Check out what you’ve been missing—sweet and savory crepes stuffed full with meats, cheese, eggs, veggies and fruit, plus Belgian waffles, soup, salads, sammies, espresso, beer and wine. Open daily for breakfast and lunch, sit inside the cozy restaurant, outside on their patio on a sunny day, or take your selection across the street to Ruby Chow Park and watch the airplanes land at Boeing Field.

Chew on this: Kiddos will be sure to nosh on the Nutella Crepe, topped with powdered sugar and whipped cream, and dad will love the Triple B waffle—bacon, brie and basil on a crisp Belgian waffle. Did someone say bacon?

American Pie Bakery and Café
Called out by RedTri for their Georgetown twist on traditional savory pie, American Pie Bakery and Café serves up a varied selection of baked treats, from Seco Pot Pie (Peruvian chicken pot pie) to Chili Verde Pie to Tikka Masala Pie…our mouths are watering. They also offer a long list of sweet pie, from classic pecan to creamsicle. We don’t know about you, but we’re pretty sure every member of your brood will be pleased with this pie place, open Monday-Friday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Chew on this: Their empanadas are the perfect little hand pie for your pumpkin, and you’re sure to find a favorite in their long list of offerings.

Two Tartes Café and Catering
A regular on the Georgetown food scene since before it was a scene, Two Tartes serves up freshly baked quiche, salads, sammies, scones, “gigantic” cookies and more in this friendly and comfortable spot along Airport Way. There’s lots of room to find a seat and enjoy a Caffe Umbra espresso for you and a chocolate cupcake for your little, or sit outside and take in the Georgetowny-ness of it all.

Chew on this: Their menu changes frequently, but we suggest buying a big ol' cookie right now. You’re welcome.
