It’s hard to believe KidsQuest Children’s Museum is now 5 years old! An immediate hit with all of its visitors when built in 2005, the museum continues to thrive with new exhibits, family events, and classes. KidsQuest’s interactive exhibits (like The Backyard, Construction Zone, and Whoosh!) pique the interest of all little explorers.

Children of all ages love the Waterways exhibit where they can pump, splash, and create music with water (smocks provided). The Garage is always bustling with kids climbing in the truck cab, tinkering with tools in the new Construction Zone, and experimenting with air at Whoosh! Your little monkey will love climbing up the indoor Tree House where she can dress like a pirate, steer through the “open sea” with a treasure map, and spy on friends below. .

Need to Know: Younger museum-goers make new discoveries with every visit to The Backyard. Designed just for the three and under set, it offers an enclosed haven with larger-than-life birdhouses full of sensory and tactile objects, a huge train table, an oversized leaf climber, and more.

Doing Good: KidsQuest gives back to the community through membership and camp scholarships, free admission from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm on the first Friday night of each month, and membership donations to local schools and non-profit organizations

Go: Year-round, but especially fun during rainy days.

Approximate Travel Time: 15 minutes east of downtown Seattle.

Possible Lunch Spots: It’s inside the Marketplace @ Factoria, so there’s plenty of mall fast food options, but for some food with soul, we recommend Goldberg’s Famous Delicatessen.

How to Dress: Comfy clothes for playing hard, plus an extra set in case things get crazy in the Waterways exhibit.

Bonus: KidsQuest knows how to party…er, birthday party that is. Packages include use of the private party room, downloadable invitations, a commemorative certificate with photo, and assistance from a KidsQuest staff member. Plus, KidsQuest members receive 10% off!

Cost of trip: Inexpensive to moderate, depending on the age of your children (under 1s are free). Also, admission is free the first Friday of each month.
