Explore: Downtown Snohomish

Teaching your kids to say “Snohomish” is almost as much fun as an afternoon spent exploring this quaint historic area. A day trip to Downtown Snohomish should definitely include beebopstaking in a kiddie-performance at Tim Noah’s Thumbnail Theater– just a few blocks from town. Children’s shows, performed by Cyndi Soup and the Thumb’s Up Puppeteers (and often Grammy-winner Tim Noah himself), are typically held the last Friday and Saturday of each month and are fun for the whole family.

After the show head into the heart of Snohomish for some shopping and dining along 1st Street. Be sure to visit Bee Bops and Lollipops (pictured, right) for ultra-hip and adorable children’s clothing, gifts and accessories. Our favorite: the custom satin-edged tutu’s made by the store owner.  Just a few doors down is Rowdy Rascals Toy Store which has fantastic toys and a weekly musical story time. When little tummies start grumbling, there’s plenty of dining options. Support local farmers with a meal at Grilla Bites. The little cafe has big flavors and a delicious organic menu with vegan choices too. The smoothies are sure to be a hit.  Another local favorite is the (potentially “haunted”) Cabbage Patch Restaurant with delicious home-style cooking and award-winning pies.

Need to walk off your lunch? Hit the Centennial Trail which runs along the scenic riverfront just below 1st street. Bring your bikes or stroller and get some fresh air before you head home!
