Tap Into Tacoma’s Family-Friendly Brew Scene

You’ve spent a busy afternoon exploring T-town’s museum district with your crew, and it’s time to recharge. Why not wash down your day’s adventure, half-pint in tow, at one of Tacoma’s family-friendly breweries? From traditional taprooms to cushy brewpubs, we’ve rounded up the best places to belly up to the bar, baby and all.

Pacific Brewing & Malting Co.

Tacoma’s original microbrew establishment, the Pacific Brewing & Malting Co. was reincarnated in 2014, after Prohibition shut them down nearly 100 years earlier. These days, the taproom and brewery celebrates its origins with historic photos hanging on the wall and place name beers steeped in Tacoma lore. Families will groove on the relaxed vibe. And while parents wash down their drink, kids can catch the Mariners on the flat screen or watch beer being made at the oversized windows. Order up a pizza to share and spend some serious time relaxing at this Tacoma original.

Perfect pour: Don’t let the name deter you from trying the Grit City Porter, a favorite for a reason.
