Go Explore! Best Museums for Kids 5 and Under

Has your little one grown tired of the same ol’ toys in her playroom, the climbing structure at the local park, and the worn out waterlogged sandbox in the backyard? It may be time to spice up your tot’s awake time and check out one of the many awesome museums nearby that offer intellectual stimulation and cultural exploration for eager young minds. In other words, somewhere else to get your kid’s mind and body revved up with sights, sounds, and hands-on fun. You can’t keep a dino skeleton or a giant water drum in your house, but you can certainly go to them. And of course, bonus points for not having to clean up.

Pacific Science Center

This science museum has been wowing young and old alike since it opened at Seattle’s 1962 World’s Fair. Little ones will literally have their hands full of knobs to turn, buttons to push, and water to pour. Don’t forget the dinosaur exhibit, the Tropical Butterfly House, 3-D and Body Works areas, and the Insect Village — did we forget something? Insider Tip: Don’t feel like you need to see every exhibit in one visit; with a younger kiddo that would be quite a challenge. Save some for next time!

Don’t Miss:
If your little ones get a kick out of the Naked Mole Rat exhibit, they will definitely get a gnaw out of the museum’s Naked Mole Rat Cam. Watch these bizarre, yet lovable creatures 24/7 from home — who knows what kooky things they’ll do when the museum is closed to visitors?
