Oh Saturday, sweet Saturday, you’re close but still so far away. What to do on a Thursday with this house full of little people, begging for fun? Fortunately, many museums offer free First Thursday programs. There’s also open play, storytime on a tugboat and family game night, to name a few. Peruse our list of ongoing Thursday activities for more ideas.

Storytimes

Seattle
The Center for Wooden Boats
: Tugboat Storytime
11:00 am – noon
Storytime (for kids ages 2-5) aboard the Arthur Foss, a 100-year-old tug boat, features stories about boats, kids and the sea.

Mockingbird Books: Storytime
11:00 am
Free event offered daily, except Sundays. Everyone welcome, but usual ages range from newborn-6 years old.

Tues. and Thurs. 11:00 am
Informal storytime for kids of all ages. Free with museum admission.

Public libraries:
Bellevue: Young Toddler Storytime, 9:30 – 10:00, Preschool Storytime, 10:15 – 10:45, German Storytime, 2:00 – 2:30 and Evening Storytime, 7:00 – 7:30; Redmond: Toddler Storytime, 11:00 – 11:30.

Seattle Asian Art Museum: Free 1st and 2nd Thursdays
Free admission for all from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm on the first Thurs. of the month and from 5:00 – 9:00 pm on the second Thurs. of the month. Keep in mind: admission is free for kids 12 and under every day!

Experience Music Project/Science Fictioin Museum: Free 1st Thursdays
5:00 – 8:00 pm
Free admission and live music.

The Museum of Flight: Free 1st Thursdays
Free admission 5:00 – 9:00 pm

Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture: Free 1st Thursdays
10:00 am – 8:00 pm

Eastside

Artwalk: Free Third Thursdays
Free admission on the third Thurs. of the month at the Museum of Glass, Tacoma Art Museum and Washington State History Museum. Keep in mind: at the Museum of Glass, kids age 6 and under get in free every day; kids 5 and under are free every day at the Tacoma Art Museum, and Washington State History Museums.

Imagine Children’s Museum: Thursday Special
3:00 – 5:00 pm
Half price admission. Keep in Mind: Children 12 months and younger get in free every day.

Lincoln Square Cinemas: Mothers’ Day at the Movies
10:00 am. Box office opens at 9:45
A movie presentation specifically designed for parents and their infant children. Shows are presented with the lights up a bit and the sound down a bit. These show times do not appear on the regular schedule.

Playtime and Fitness

Seattle

Kids Co. at Graham Hill: Play & Learn
9:30 – 11:00 am
Play and social time for newborns-age 5 with caregiver. Snack is included and an outside play area is available.

KidsQuest Children’s Museum: Family Game Night
Second Thurs. of the month, 5:00 – 8:00 pm
Many types of games and light snacks are provided. Free with Museum membership or paid admission. Great for all ages.

Orange Blossom Society: Open Play
9:30 am – 1:00 pm and 3:00 – 5:00 pm
Kids 6 and under can play while parents hang out, have coffee and use the free Wi-Fi. $10.00 for Parent and up to two children for 1.5 hrs with complimentary coffee & tea.

Ravenna-Eckstein Community Center: Indoor Toddler Playspace
$2/child
Monday: 10:15 am – 6:00 pm
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 4:45 – 8:30 pm
Friday: 1:15 – 8:30 pm
Saturday: 10:15 am – 4:00 pm

Twirl Cafe:
Mama Tone Classes: 10:00 am
Join other moms for a fun group workout. $70 for 5 week series.
