Where to Sleep
Suncadia offers an array of choices for your weekend lodgings. The Lodge, the resort’s main building, is an architectural wonder inspired by the grand lodges of our National Parks. Choose from the 254 guest rooms, suites, and penthouses; some of the units include a full kitchen and even a washer and dryer. The Inn is smaller and more exclusive, with relaxing guest rooms and suites, as well as mountain or golf course views. If your brood desires more space, the Trailhead Condominiums are a great option. The classic mountain architecture and spacious, well-furnished units are located within walking distance to the resort’s main amenities. The one or two-bedroom condos also feature living/dining areas, full kitchen, washer/dryer, fireplaces, and a deck with outdoor dining.

The Vacation Rental Homes are an excellent option should you need a large place and plenty of privacy. With over 30 luxury homes to choose from, your family’s needs will truly be catered to — whether you want a large patio and a Jacuzzi, or unparalleled golf course views, or a high-tech media and game room. The homes are all gorgeously furnished and fully-equipped, and you’ll have plenty of space for the kiddos to run around. This is also a great option if you are going with extended family or another family.

Suncadia's Dawson Park

Outdoor Fun
With so many fantastic things to do in such a beautiful setting, the question is, “What should we do first?” For starters, there’s a lovely outdoor pool right behind The Lodge, which also has a whirlpool spa. A second outdoor pool is located at the Swim and Fitness Center and has a whirlpool spa as well as a children’s wading pool. If you’re looking for a place to play, the wee ones will never want to leave Dawson Park, possibly one of the coolest playgrounds, ever. You will also find tennis courts and a basketball court adjacent to the park, and plenty of options for an outdoor picnic.

Suncadia biking

Seemingly endless miles of trails for hiking and biking (40+ miles, actually), both paved and unpaved, will keep your family moving amidst the breathtaking views and lush surroundings of Suncadia’s forests and hills. Don’t worry about having your own equipment; rentals are available for almost anything you can think of: bikes, motorized scooters, bike trailers, jogging strollers, and even trail-along bike extensions! Kids will love the abundance of wide, paved, flat trails; parents will feel reassured at the ease and safety of their little ones on wheels and the absence of cars. The serene and lovely Alpine Lake rents boats, kayaks, canoes, paddle boats, and stand-up paddle boards. The lake is also stocked with trout, so your little ones can do some fishing. And don’t forget to feed the ducks!

Rope Rider Golf Park is perfect for those who just want to play casually, with a few options for shorter courses. They’ve got youth tees on every hole and shorter three and six-hole loops — how kid-friendly is that? From 7 a.m. ’til 3 p.m. daily, it operates as a free short game practice area. After 3 p.m., it’s a three-hole short course that’s free for kids ages 17 and under.

Still need more to do? How about horseback riding, fly fishing, white-water rafting, or rock climbing … just to name a few. And the Suncadia peeps have Youth Programs galore to keep your kiddos’ minds and bodies busy, busy, busy — geo caching, photo scavenger hunts, storytelling, and s’mores, along with family-oriented seasonal events.

Indoor Fun
It’s the Northwest, so it can get cold or wet outside. But no worries, parents. The awesome indoor pool at Suncadia has two water slides (218 feet and 271 feet in length), a combination lap pool and leisure pool, whirlpool spa area, saunas, and steam rooms. Day use locker rooms with showers, swimsuit spinners, and digital storage lockers make it easy for families to stay for a long stretch.

Good Eats
You won’t go hungry here! The Coal House Cafe at The Lodge offers espresso, beverages, and sundries. The Canary Grill (formerly the Canary Lounge), across from the Swim and Fitness Center, offers delish pub-style food for the family at lunchtime. Portals Restaurant is a fine dining establishment at The Lodge that will make grown-up tummies happy while warmly welcoming their kiddos for breakfast, lunch, and dinner; their yummy Little Tikes menu is specifically designed for ages 12 and under. And you can’t beat the view!

Suncadia Portals Restaurant

Swiftwater Cellars Winery at Suncadia has a tasting bar, restaurant, and pro shop. Bring the kiddos to lunch and enjoy the views as well as the flatbreads, sandwiches, and dessert. Grown-ups, go ahead and have some wine … you’re on vacation!

When the weather warms up there are also great choices for outdoor dining. Both Portals and Swiftwater Cellars have a large outdoor dining patio with spectacular views. The Chill ‘N Grill at the Swim and Fitness Center features easy poolside options such as sandwiches, salads, burgers, and cold drinks. And for the golfers, they offer a barbecue by the putting green near Prospector Golf Course.
