Coronado Beach

No trip to Coronado would be complete with a visit to the idyllic hometown beach that draws visitors from around the world. Spot the famous Hotel Del Coronado and you’ve found the south end of the 1.5-mile long pristine shore of Coronado beach. Known for its gentle waves and gold sand, not to mention the backdrop of the grand mansions along Ocean Avenue, Coronado beach was recently named one of the top 10 beaches of 2017. At this picture-perfect locale, you'll find free parking on nearby streets, bathrooms, showers, fire pits and a place for dogs to run at the North end.

Insider's Tip: Parking can be tricky on the weekends during tourist season, especially along Ocean Ave. near the beach. To score a spot, drive back into the neighborhoods and plan to walk a few blocks.
