The Newest Hub for Creativity

Have you ever wished you were one of those crafty moms? You know, the moms that always have paint, glue guns, glitter and construction paper ready for a quick and messy craft project with the kids. We didn’t think so, which is why the newest hub of creativity, Pachis Art Studio, is a must-visit studio when you and your family need some creativity.

Pachis Art Studio debuted in April 2012 in the North Park community. Owner and founder Juliana Flores is a UC San Diego graduate with more than 12 years experience working with kids – from summer camp counseling to teaching. Flores, who grew up with artist parents in Tijuana, Mexico, strives to help young artists develop a greater sense of self and the world around them through art.

The Pachis Approach 
Pachis Art Studio is not like other art classes in town. Pachis is founded on the belief that kids are born creative and can discover themselves through artistic expression. Flores strives to provide a structured yet open environment where kids can feel safe to express themselves through art.  These “creativity spaces” help kids think outside the “art box” and encourages self-expression, builds self-esteem, and cultivates outstanding, creative individuals.

Opportunities for Young Artists
Pachis currently has three opportunities for kids to get creative.

Open Art Studio – Kids and parents can drop in Tuesday – Saturday, from 11:00 am – 2:30 pm, and get creative. Young artists typically make three to five projects during the hour.

Workshops – These 4-session workshops take place Tuesday (4 – 6 years old), Wednesday (7 – 9 years old), and Thursday (10 – 12 years old) from 3:45 – 4:45 pm. Each weekly class focuses on one of Pachis four themes: My Self, My Environment, My World, and Art.

Summer Art Camp – Pachis offers weekly summer art camps from July 30 – August 31 for kids ages 4 – 12 years old.  Camps are weekdays from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm with themes range from Block Party to Around the World in Five Days to Artistic Time Machine.

What Does Pachis Mean? 
In case you were wondering what the unique name stands for, it means “flowers” in the art language that Flores created when she first discovered texture and color as a young girl gardening with her mother. The word fits perfectly with her last name – Flores – that translates to flowers in Spanish.
