That kiddie pool in your backyard is nice for cooling your feet but this summer it’s time to up the water-play game, big time. The US has no shortage of amazing water parks—from just-opened volcano-themed to revamped old classics—but we’ve picked out favorites from among the many. Dollywood Splash Country—Pigeon Forge, Tn

This sprawling water park has some serious water action for thrill seekers, including the new-this-summer Tailspin Racer—a five-story, six-slide wide slide. There’s also a 1500-ft lazy river to bring your heart rate down, The Cascades—a lagoon style splash pad and Little Creek Falls, just for your pint-sized park-goers. Dollywood Splash Country offers a virtual line reservation system called TimeSaver H2O which allows you to hold a space in line for the most popular attractions and explore the other attractions while you wait—a lifesaver for parents.
