Dream getaway: The Galapagos Islands

When we decided we were ready to start a family, I also decided to take a trip alone with my own mom before becoming a mom. We did a 10-day trip through the Galapagos Islands (on Southern Exposures tour).  The tours are small, about 15 people on a boat, and it was amazing.  You swim with penguins and sharks and seals, hike on red sand islands covered with lizards and meet the incredible turtles.  I've been dreaming of the day I can take my kids (I'm just waiting for them to be slightly stronger swimmers!).  We also extended the trip with a tour through the Andes and extra days in the city of Quito, which I'd highly recommend.
