Move over cauliflower crust—we are all about the seasonal butternut squash pizza crusts at Trader Joe’s! Our fave grocer’s newest product is here for the holidays and it not only serves as a refreshing take on a traditional pizza, but it can be used in other sneakier ways, too. Read on for our fave ways to sneak in the veggies from Trader Joe’s.

Made with just butternut squash, corn flour, olive oil and salt, this gluten-free crust would also be pretty tasty served as homemade chips or a nice salad topper. The product is found in the frozen food aisle and is bound to keep your healthy eating on track during this season.

One of the main reasons we love TJ’s newest pizza venture is because it does a great job of tricking our kiddos into thinking their eating regular crust, but are really getting a nice serving of veggies. The butternut squash crust is one of many ways to shop Trader Joe’s products that deliciously camouflage “icky” veggies.

Here are just a few more sneaky snacks and foods to get your kids eating their daily vegetable intake.

1. Cauliflower Gnocchi

Swap out the carb-loaded potato gnocchi in favor for this cauliflower version once in a while. Top with lots of sauce and your littles won’t even realize their loading up on Vitamin C and K and other nutrients that help boost immune systems.

2. Spaghetti Squash Spirals

Your kids will think they’re digging into a big bowl of pasta instead of spaghetti squash spirals with this tasty dinner. This frozen meal comes with it’s own sauce and chunks of butternut squash for a little extra veggie count.

3. Honey Roasted Pumpkin Ravioli

Pumpkin is rich in antioxidants and Vitamin A so it serves as a great veggie your kids can enjoy in the fall. These tasty raviolis come packed with pumpkin and cheese––the easiest way to hide any vegetable!


4. Okra Crisps

Skip the chips and try out Okra Crisps! Okra is rich in potassium, vitamin B and C and is a nice alternative to high-fat potato chips your kiddos probably currently love.


5. Just Beets

Like the name implies, these “chips” are made with just beets. No salt or oil, and now we’re curious how this works! While these treats probably result in a bit of a mess––because BEETS––they’re perfect for dipping in hummus and are much healthier.
