Six students from the University of Minnesota are trying to bring a class project to life. After taking a year-long course in “Entrepreneurship in Action,” the students saw the need of a backpack for students with autism. They are calling it the Nesel Pack.

“This guy on my team named Will and his family are a foster family, living in Milwaukee. He saw lots of students with autism and other learning disabilities and we sort of came up with this idea,” said graduating senior Martha Pietruszewski to ABC News.

A Kickstarter campaign reached its goal of $10,000. The Nesel Pack is an all-in-one backpack that includes things such as a pouch for weights, hugging chest straps, and clips for sensory tools. “The Nesel team started this backpack from scratch. We had hundreds of meetings with parents, occupational therapists, teachers, and leaders in the autism community to learn what exactly we could do to most benefit the students” says the team on their Kickstarter page. The Nesel Pack accessible to students on the autism spectrum and recommended for ages 6-12. To learn more, watch the video below and visit the Nesel Pack Kickstarter page:
