Summer is a great time to get out and about to explore the yummy parts of our great city. The mushrooming dining scene in Chicago constantly keeps us on our toes — new and fantastic eateries seem to pop up daily. In fact, according to the City of Chicago, there are more than 7,300 restaurants! Why not take to the streets, with kiddos in tow, and have a dessert fete? Go on a sugary adventure and indulge in the best that Chicago has to offer—here are a few to get you started.
Fig and Olive
You will think you’ve died and gone to French Riviera heaven when you visit Fig & Olive, where olive oil is surprisingly in many dishes. Kids will love seeing the action at the open-exhibition kitchen and the crostini station and everyone will love the fresh-air garden terrace. There will be no sad faces when the desserts arrive. Choose from the caramelized apple tart or cheesecake, the decadent chocolate fondant or pot de crème, the clementine vacherin or ditch all that and dig into the Fig & Olive tasting, which includes a variety of four bite-sized desserts. Get some retail therapy while you’re at it — the restaurant is located right in the middle of famed Gold Coast’s Oak Street where luxury retail space reigns supreme.
