Christina Applegate Used Her Cane to Send a Special Message at the SAG Awards

LOS ANGELES - JAN 12: Christina Applegate arrives for the 25th Annual Critics' Choice Awards on January 12, 2020 in Santa Monica, CA

At what was likely her final awards show, Christina Applegate used her cane to send a message about multiple sclerosis

When Christina Applegate attended the Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles this past weekend, it was likely the last time she would attend that sort of event as a working actor. Since being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2021, Applegate has been open about the toll the disease has taken on her and how she’s winding down her career so she can focus full-time on her health. But she got one last message in.

On the red carpet, the Dead to Me star dressed in an all-black tuxedo ensemble to match her 12-year-old daughter, Sadie Grace LeNoble. And as the mother-daughter pair walked together, Applegate used a cane that had stickers on it reading, “FU MS.”

We couldn’t agree more.

“It’s my last awards show as an actor probably, so it’s kind of a big deal,” Applegate told the Los Angeles Times about the SAG Awards earlier this month. It’s an even bigger deal that she chose Sadie as her date, as Applegate has been open about the special bond she shares with her daughter at other public events.

Late last year, when she was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Applegate gushed about Sadie in her speech.

“You are so much more than even you know,” she said, through tears. “You are so beautiful and kind and loving and smart and interesting and I am blessed every day that I get to wake up and take you to your school. You are my everything. Thank you for standing beside me through all of this.”

Applegate has also brought Sadie to walk red carpets with her at past events, and the two have sported matching outfits before as well.
