When you’re sick and you’re little, all you want to do lay on the couch and marinate in your mom’s gentle attention and Disney Junior. But when you’re sick and you’re little—and the grown-ups don’t know why—sometimes you have to lay in a cold, loud tube and not see anyone you trust while the machine clangs and bangs away in its diagnostic drama.
Yuck, right? Meet the pediatric MRI scan experience. It’s terrifying, but thanks to LEGO, it may be just a little bit less.
LEGO is sending custom MRI Scanner LEGO sets to hospitals in the hopes that they will help show kids how an actual scanner works, and in turn roll back some of their anxiety. Lifting the lid on the LEGO MRI Scanner and positioning LEGO figurines where the patient, the tech, and the parents will be during the procedure can go a long way to help kids prepare for their scans.
I have a small weekend project – LEGO is donating model MRI Scanners to hospital Radiology departments to help children who may be nervous understand the process. I get to build one! pic.twitter.com/9C5MzulNtK

And if this genius idea isn’t enough to make you love LEGO, get this. This LEGO set isn’t for sale, since it’s part of the company’s Local Community Engagement program. LEGO employees are building the MRI model across the world to distribute to their local hospitals.
They’re generating some seriously good company karma.
