Scrabble & Beyond: 6 Hot Spots for Board Game Fun

Put down your phones, console controllers, and other digital devices: it’s time for some face-to-face gaming time. Dig out that old board game gathering dust in the depths of the closet and get the family together. Or better yet, visit any of these fantastic spots around NYC where you can sit down and play a game together. Click on through to see where to get your game on.

The Game Store: Twenty Sided Store

Parents will find themselves more at home with the Twenty Sided Store than kids, since the board and card game store’s main audience is 20 to 35 years old. But the venue is friendly to all ages and stocks a large selection of games for kids ages 8 and up.

Twenty Sided Store hosts plenty of themed events, tournaments, and generally fun game nights. They’ve held board game events focused on independent board game companies (think Catan and Ticket To Ride). Not all are kid-friendly, so check with the store first before heading over.

Another option is to hold your own private party: Twenty Sided does kid’s birthday parties and other events for kids of elementary school age and up.
