With three different locations, and one brand spanking new space in kid-centric Park Slope, The Painted Pot is the go-to place for creating a handmade gift in Brooklyn. This paint-your-own ceramics studio is a cheerful place to do some crafting, and the new Park Slope studio (blocks away from its original location) is bigger, brighter and a good choice for after-school activities or slow weekends. In addition to painting ready-made figurines, platters, mugs and more, kids can create mosaic picture frames and mirrors or even try their hand at glass fusing. The Painted Pot charges an $8 studio fee plus the cost of individual projects.
Good to know: The Painted Pot's new digs are a few short steps to Cocoa Bar, where you and your little artist can cozy up to a hot chocolate reward for all the hard work. You can also find Painted Pot outposts in Bay Ridge and Carroll Gardens; hours vary by location.
Hours: Mon.-Wed. 9a.m.-9p.m.; Thurs.-Sat. 9a.m.-10p.m.; Sun. 9a.m.-7p.m.
