History Comes Alive! Take a Road Trip to Boston

Recent events got the family thinking about this country’s origins? A trip to Boston is one way to revisit America’s rich history. Around every corner you and your young ones will find a place that has played a significant role in America’s past. But don’t worry, even if your kids don’t know the difference between a raincoat and a redcoat, this city also offers plenty of other things to see, do and eat. Click through for our Boston hot spots!

Have an Historic Meal, Too!

If you're looking for something a little more sit-down and relaxing, make a reservation at Union Oyster House. It’s the oldest restaurant in Boston and enjoys a celebrity status all its own. Walk past a wall with engravings of the fun and famous that have dined there… and if ask to be seated in booth 18 if you can. It’s where John F. Kennedy used to sit and dine in privacy, and has been dedicated in his honor. Good to know: Parents can ask for a Union Oyster House coloring book to keep little hands busy.

If you’re looking for a meal option that's a little more trendy, head across to Cambridge to Area Four. Wood-fired pizza tops the menu here, (check out their seasonal pie — Fall’s is delish) but small plates are enticing too. Don’t be surprised if your mini-gastronome gobbles up the brussel sprout and kale salad. And for dessert, even if you might feel too full, don’t skip the fresh baked cookie dessert. Psst: Area Four has another location in the South End of Boston as well.
