Recall Alert! Undeclared Allergen Causes Recall of More Than 2 Million Pounds of P.F. Chang’s Frozen Meals

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Safety Inspection Services recently announced a recall of more than two million pounds of frozen P.F. Chang’s Home Menu Chicken Pad Thai and Chicken Fried Rice frozen entrees due to an undeclared allergen issue. Conagra Brands, Inc. (the company behind P.F. Chang’s frozen foods) did not immediately return Red Tricycle’s request for comment.

Following a routine label verification check, Conagra discovered the presence of an undeclared allergen—milk. If someone in your family has a dairy allergy, read on for more information on this recall.

Recalled Product Description: P.F. Chang’s Home Menu Chicken Pad Thai and Chicken Fried Rice

The recalled products include P.F. Chang’s Home Menu Chicken Pad Thai and Chicken Fried Rice frozen entrees produced between Oct. 1, 2018 and Apr. 11, 2019 with the “Best By” dates of Sep. 26, 2019 to Apr. 5, 2020. For a full list of the P.F. Chang’s products, click here to visit the USDA’s website.

Why the Entrees Were Recalled

The frozen meals were recalled due to a misbranding and undeclared allergen issue. Even though the products don’t specifically list milk in the ingredients, they do contain dairy. The undeclared milk is a serious issue for anyone with a dairy allergy.

How To Tell If Your Entree Is Part of the Recall

Consult the USDA’s list here for all products included in this recall. Along with the product names, and best by dates, the affected entrees also bear the establishment number “EST.P-115” on the packaging above the nutritional statement.

What Parents Can Do

While there have been no adverse reactions reported as of now, anyone with a dairy allergy should not eat these products. Throw them out or return them to the place of purchase.
