Finding Cool Gear for Kids with Special Needs Just Got Easier

It’s hard enough for parents to find clothing and gear that kids will deem cool enough to be seen on the playground. And for kids with special needs, it’s a whole new ball game. Luckily for parents of kids of all abilities, there’s an online marketplace that curates inclusive clothing and gear for kids—everything is fashionably sensible, and most importantly, totally cool. Keep reading to find out more.

What It Is

Founder Alexandra Connell was born with dyslexia, anxiety and various other special needs. Now a Columbia graduate, she founded PATTI + RICKY for people exactly like her. Her special section for kids includes fashionable gear like hearing aid charms, compression vest accessories, wheelchair bags and more.

Connell says, “PATTI + RICKY is a passion project. It is inspired by my own disabilities and family members. When you are caring for someone with a disability or medical condition that absorbs a lot of your time, and finding products that are stylish and that fulfill a specific need is also time-consuming. There isn’t time to do both. My goal is to make PATTI + RICKY an online marketplace that redefines the disability shopping experience so parents, caregivers, people with disabilities can find what they need and want in one place.”

How It Works

It’s a one-stop shop when it comes to inclusive gear on PATTI + RICKY. Since everything is curated with special needs in mind, there’s no need to dig around the site to find what you’re looking for.
