Under Cover: 9 Shaded Playgrounds to Try

Where do you go when the sun is blazing hot and your neighborhood park’s play structure feels like a fireball? Take cover! The following parks with shaded playgrounds are our perfect picks for outdoor fun when the sun is at its peak. Flip through the gallery for the scoop.

Peninsula Park

Entirely in the shade, this park has the ability to provide another full day of fun without the sun. There's one expansive and tall play structure for mixed ages and a smaller, nearby structure for the tiny tots, so you can keep an eye on everyone while you sip your latte. Plus, there are plenty of slides and swings at this one. Round out the day with the newer splash pad for, well, splashing and Portland's original rose garden (and fountain) to run through.
