“In the fall, we like to load up the car and take a two-hour drive over Snoqualmie Pass to visit our friends who packed up their sons and their urban Seattle lives two years ago to start Green Bow Farm near Ellensburg. Here, Matthew and Christina raise Highland cattle, Icelandic sheep and chickens on pasture on 23 acres. My husband and I like to spend a couple nights catching up with our friends, cooking, drinking good beer and taking in the glorious sunsets, while our six-year-old son gets to spend quality time exploring all that wide open space, frolicking with the farm dogs, taking rides on the farm ATV and most importantly, playing with his best buddy Harlow (they’ve known each other since they were babies) and his two little brothers. We’re in awe of their new life as sustainable farmers, and their influence has made me much more thoughtful in the ways I shop for and cook food for my brood. (We also miss them tons!). I invite you to check out Matthew and Christina’s amazing work on their blog at future farmers live here, or visit them at the West Seattle Farmers Market every Sunday.”
