This Theater Is Offering Free Movies for Kids Who Read Books

Want a fun way to encourage your kids to read this summer? How about free movie tickets. At one theater chain your kids can earn free movie tickets for turning in a book report.

Showcase Cinemas is offering free admission to select kids films every Wednesday from Jul. 10 to Jul. 31 in exchange for a book report. When kids submit their reports they are also entered into a drawing that will award three winners a movie pass and a new book at participating locations. This will be the 21st year of the summer reading program dubbed Bookworm Wednesdays.

“Summer is all about fun for kids, and it’s also an important time to continue to develop strong reading skills that are known to slide during the summer months. We’re encouraging both entertainment and education with Showcase Cinemas Bookworm Wednesdays program,” said Mark Malinowski, Vice President of Global Marketing at Showcase Cinemas. “We’re excited to bring back this popular program and to have the opportunity to reward kids with a fun – and free – experience at the movies.”

Book report forms are available on Showcase’s website and at the box office. Accompanying parents or guardians and children under six years of age receive free admission without submitting a book report. For more info and to find a participating location check out the details here.
