The holiday season often means packing up the kids and hopping on the interstate for a family road trip. While they say the journey is more important than the destination, ask any parent who has spent a few hours cooped up in a car with an antsy toddler and they’ll tell you that keeping kids entertained is more than half the battle. Flip through our album to discover some engrossing apps that’ll divert even the most impatient junior road warrior and help delay the inevitable question, “Are we there yet?”
Draw Rider
Deceptively complex and totally engrossing, Draw Rider will inevitably suck up hours of road time as players try to navigate through a variety of line-drawn trails riding different bicycles without crashing, which sounds much easier than it really is. With more than 150 tracks and seven vehicle types, including an awkward but hilarious mini-bike, the app features realistic physics applied to a stick-figure world. A level editor lets players create trails of their own, which can be shared with other players (More than 150,000 user-created trails already have been shared!). A fun distraction for a long road trip.
Good for ages 10 & up.
Available on Google Play and iTunes, free with in-app purchases.
