Don’t Trip Out! 10 Captivating Apps for a Long Haul

The holiday season often means packing up the kids and hopping on the interstate for a family road trip. While they say the journey is more important than the destination, ask any parent who has spent a few hours cooped up in a car with an antsy toddler and they’ll tell you that keeping kids entertained is more than half the battle. Flip through our album to discover some engrossing apps that’ll divert even the most impatient junior road warrior and help delay the inevitable question, “Are we there yet?”

iStoryTime

Preschool roadtrippers will delight in iStoryTime, an immersive app that offers access to an extensive library of full-length audio books for children read by professional narrators. The app comes with four free read-aloud storybooks, including The Giant Smurf, Madagascar, Ice Age, and Robin Hood. Additional audio books are available via in-app purchase and through monthly or annual subscriptions, which are currently on sale for $4.99 or $34.99, respectively. The iStoryTime library includes a wide selection of narrated children’s storybooks from kids’ favorite films, TV shows, and classic stories, which are conveniently hidden in a “parents only” section of the app.

Good for ages 3 & up.

Available on Google Play, iTunes, and Windows, free with in-app purchases.
