Louis Stelzer Park

If you really want to get a feel for nature from a park, check out Louis Stelzer Park in Lakeside. Part of the Kids in Parks Track-Trail Program, this park offers a fun and engaging way for kids to interact with nature without a lot of planning on your part. Explore the park  and download a brochure for the type of exploration you want to do with your wild ones while at the park. You’ll discover guides for following animal tracks, or exploring relationships in the ecosystem along an easy 1.5 mile loop. The beautiful landscape is covered with a canopy of huge oak trees, no need to drive all the way to the mountains. In addition, the park is wheelchair-accessible. You’ll find trails with paved paths, a wheelchair exercise course, and plants alongside the trails that are labeled with Braille name tags. The park also has two playgrounds and picnic facilities.
