This Viral TikTok Bubble Hack for Toddlers Is Genius

Bubbles are a summertime necessity if you have small kids. They are fun, cheap, and easy to use to entertain your little one for at least five minutes. The problem with bubbles is that they can be messy and somewhat hard to use, especially for little fingers. Leave it to a mom to come up with a better way to play with bubbles that will save you and your toddler’s sanity this summer.

TikTok user @nicolerosecenter posted the genius hack on social media, leaving parents mesmerized and also aghast we didn’t think of it first. It’s simple—just take any container the bubbles come in like tubes, bottles, jugs, or even a bubble machine—and dump a small amount into a small bowl (we love her vintage Pyrex). Then, take one of the hundred straws you have laying around your house that you use for water bottles, place the end in the bubbles, give the other end a gentle blow and you’ve got yourself a mostly mess-free way for your kids to enjoy bubbles.

It’s also a way for your kids to enjoy bubbles without you needing to intervene every 30 seconds to clean up a mess or help them get the wand into the very last drop of bubble liquid.

According to Sensory Lifestyles, bubbles are a great way for kids to develop fine motor skills that they will use every day. “Get your little one to pop the bubbles with their hands. They can pop it with their whole hand, pop it through clapping and smooshing it,” they wrote. “Using your pointer finger to pop them.” They can also be used to improve visual tracking and gross motor skills and to help with organization and patience.

Center had tons of positive reactions to her post, with parents chiming in to say, “Omg thank you!! My sons second birthdays is bubble themed and this is perfect!!!” and “why didn’t we think of this sooner.”

Of course, some wondered whether their kid would be the one who would try to drink the bubbles instead of blowing them out, so if you think that could happen, make sure to keep an eye on them while they’re first learning. No one needs to be cleaning up bubble vomit from their carpets on a hot day.
