‘Beetlejuice 2’ Is Coming to Theaters in 2024

Beetlejuice 2 is coming in 2024

Micheal Keaton is returning and Jenna Ortega is officially on board

It’s official. After years of speculation (and hoping), the sequel to Tim Burton’s cult classic film about a pesky poltergeist will return to the big screen. According to Variety, Warner Bros. announced Beetlejuice 2 will hit theaters on Sept. 6th, 2024. Fans will be thrilled to know that Michael Keaton will reprise his iconic role as the title character and Winona Ryder is also slated to return as Lydia Deetz.

New additions to the cast are just as exciting as the original stars, with Wednesday‘s Jenna Ortega slated to play Lydia’s daughter, and Justin Theroux in a (so far) unknown role. The first film revolves around Lydia’s family being haunted by a young deceased married couple (Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin), and since we know Lydia is back, we’re left wondering—who else might return?

What Else Do We Know About Beetlejuice 2?

While Burton and Keaton have been dropping hints for years, this is the first official announcement from the film studio. We don’t know much else about the sequel, other than filming will commence in London on May 10th, that Tim Burton is at the helm of the second film, and that the movie is being produced by Brad Pitt’s Plan B production company.

Original composer Danny Elfman also hinted at a return when he told Deadline earlier this month: “I love being a fly on the wall when he’s shooting. I’ll be doing that in a couple of months, as you may know, on another Tim Burton project.”
