Wednesday is officially returning to Netflix for a second season

Netflix’s creative take on the Addams Family has been a runaway success. Wednesday, a coming-of-age tale directed by Tim Burton following the angsty teen, is one of the most-watched series ever to stream on Netflix. And now, the streamer has announced that it’s getting a second season.

“We can’t wait to dive headfirst into another season and explore the kooky, spooky world of Nevermore,” said Wednesday Season 1 co-showrunners Miles Millar and Alfred Gough. “We just need to make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first.”

The announcement came with a teaser trailer that promises more woeful adventures in store for the Addams Family heroine.

While there’s no news yet about plot details or a release date, fans will still be happy to know that Wednesday’s story is far from over.

Will Christina Ricci reprise her role in Season 2?

In March, it was announced that Christina Ricci would be a part of the series. Famous for her OG portrayal of the dark and mysterious character, Ricci did not reprise her role. Instead, her character will came alongside the newest Wednesday Addams rendition, Jenna Ortega. In fact, the eight-episode series took on a completely new plot, keeping things fresh even for longtime Addams Family fans.

And another surprise, Fred Armisen as everyone’s favorite—Uncle Fester.

Fans were gifted with a teaser and two-minute trailer last summer. Unlike the typical teen drama, Wednesday includes (obviously) a supernatural twist.

Netflix’s Wednesday Trailer

As Wednesday attempts to master her budding psychic powers, the iconic character will, according to Netflix, “thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago—all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships of the strange and diverse student body.”

Netflix’s Wednesday Release Date

Fans finally have a date to look forward to, as Netflix announced this morning that Wednesday will be premiering on November 23rd, by releasing this amazing poster:

Since the clock has been ticking, fans of the creepy and kooky family had been wondering who else would be joining Jenna Ortega to fill out the family tree. Just before the release of the trailer, Netflix shared a photo showing Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán and Isaac Ordonez as official Addams family members.

Wednesday marks the television series directorial debut of Burton. Famed director Burton, has also directed a few episodes of television shows such as Alfred Hitchcock Presents. The acclaimed filmmaker also executive produced an animated TV version of Beetlejuice. The creatives behind the new Netflix series also include Andrew Mittman for 1.21 (The Addams Family, Alphas), Kevin Miserocchi (Tee and Charles Addams Foundation), Kayla Alpert (Code Black, Up All Night), Jonathan Glickman for Glickmania (RESPECT, Addams Family 2), and Gail Berman (The Addams Family, Alphas).
