Field of Dreams: Ballparks That Score BIG with Families

Her first fan jersey was a onesie, and she’s been playing catch with her oversized mitt since she started walking. Now you’re ready to take your little slugger out to the ball game, take her out with the crowds. Besides the peanuts and Cracker Jacks, stadiums have tons to offer their littlest fans. From Ferris wheels and mini golf, to coaching clinics and hands-on skills zones, we’ve loaded the bases with major league stadiums that’ve hit a grand slam when it comes to family perks. Flip through to see if your home team made the list!

Nationals Park – Washington D.C.

When li’l patriots get restless during a Washington Nationals game, parents can let them run free at the Kids Zone playground, located near the center field entrance. It’s an easy place for busy ones to stretch little legs before returning to their seats to catch the Presidents race. This historic, fourth inning tradition is a chance for families to cheer on their fave (we hear old Teddy R. rarely wins) as the oversized icons make their way around the field. When the race is over, if your little leaguer still has energy to burn, let him try out his pitching skills at the new MLB Knock Out Game, a popular holdover from the Nationals’ recent Winterfest celebration. Here, li’l sluggers try to knock out other teams’ mascots with speed balls, knuckleballs and curve balls.

All Star Play: The Nationals seem to be taking a page from Disney with a new pin trading station, where young fans can trade pins or buy new ones to show their spirit.
