Don’t let the name fool you: This farm offers much more than your typical petting zoo. Nestled in Southeastern Wisconsin, Green Meadows is a sprawling, family-owned, educational farm 93 miles northwest of Chicago. It began as a U-pick vegetable farm in 1964, and was one of the only farms in the area that invited children to pick alongside their parents. The focus on family fun continues to this day.
Get there early and plan on staying for the day. There’s plenty to keep you busy on your self-guided tour on which you’ll learn about and play with pigs, cows, llamas, goats, sheep, chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, donkeys, horses, bunnies and more. Farm-goers can milk a friendly cow, take a ride on a pony, sit back and relax on a hayride, play with the many kittens in the Kitty Barn, grab lunch at the Feedbag and enjoy a picnic at the playground.
