Whee! 7 Playgrounds with Zip Lines

If you have a little monkey that never met a tree they didn’t want to climb, a wall they didn’t want to scale, or a giant red Target ball they didn’t want to ninja-kick off of, it may be time to introduce them to the thrills of a zip line. Don’t worry, we’re not suggesting you strap them in and send them soaring with their feet skimming the treetops — click through our album for seven local kid-approved zips that’ll keep them mere feet from the ground.

Blackberry Farm

Transport yourself to the 1800s to ride this 65-foot-long zip line connecting a water tower and windmill in the Adventure Playground at the historic Blackberry Farm. Along with the popular zip line, the playground is comprised of an extensive network of climbing decks, slides, ropes and catwalk-style bridges. It successfully combines physical play with learning as each new deck explored teaches kids interactively about the history of pioneer life. Continue the learning by exploring the various buildings that make up this living history museum showing blacksmithing; weaving; pottery, candle, soap and butter making; one-room schoolhouse-style teaching and more.
