Chris Hemsworth Is Peak Dad Goals: “I’d Rather Be with My Kids”

You may be used to seeing Chris Hemsworth in the role of Asgardian superhero Thor—but his favorite role is decidedly more down to Earth. Chris Hemsworth loves being a dad as he shared in a recent interview with GQ Australia

Hemsworth is definitely a family man who shares a daughter, India (6) and 4-year-old twin sons Sasha and Tristan with wife and model Elsa Pataky. Read on for all the amazing ways Hemsworth tries to keep his kids humble, despite his super-heroic status.

Unlike other superstar celebrities, Hemsworth doesn’t live a lavish L.A. lifestyle of late-night parties. Instead, the actor resides with his family in Australia’s Byron Bay. His take on trying to raise his kids humble, despite their immense wealth, is pretty refreshing, too:

“When I think about my kids, I don’t want them to miss that joy. Elsa and I talk a lot about how we instill that same appreciation and respect for things. I don’t want them to feel like they’re privileged in any way. The fact that we have money and their parents are famous, that somehow they’re special, that scares me because we grew up with no money.”

Hemsworth also told GQ Australia, “There’s times when I’ve thought, ‘Wow, because having kids is more important to me, some of my roles have suffered’. There’s definitely a couple of films I could’ve put way more energy into but I was like, ‘No, I’d rather be with my kids’.”

Even though Hemsworth admitting giving up some of his professional life for his kiddos, he also said, “You can’t completely dismiss what that pursuit does for you either. I often find myself saying it’s all for my family but in all this I definitely have personal things I need to achieve too.”

The actor went on to add, “The difference is you have to open yourself up and go, ‘Well, you had kids so you forfeited a bit of that’. It can’t be a truly individual, selfish endeavor but we still need to take care of our own.”

Hmm. Work-life balance? Yep, even celebrities have to deal with the realities of working and having children, too. But it looks like, from what Hemsworth has to say, he is total #DadGoals!
