Los Angeles, Hollywood & Calabasas, California

The Autry Museum of the American West, located in Griffith Park (LA) houses one of the finest cowboy and American West collections in the entire world. The museum is home to the Southwest Museum of the American Indian Collection, one of the largest collections of Native American art and artifacts in the country. There is also an extensive array of fine art and paintings along with film memorabilia, historic firearms and more. Ongoing family events include panning for gold, cowboy lunches and more. Just a short drive (depending on traffic) away you’ll find the Leonis Adobe Museum in Calabasas, Ca. Dedicated to preserving and sharing the legacy of the American West, summertime fun includes Little Ranchers Days with ranch animals, blacksmith demos, kid’s music and more. While you’re in the LA area, head to the Hollywood Walk of Fame to see the five stars of Gene Autry, the world’s most famous cowboy (and original founder of the Autry museum). He has stars for film, television, recording, radio and live performance, making him the only entertainer to ever have so many.
