Dr. Karen Lee is a founder and publisher of the sustainable lifestyle, food and holistic health website, Dr.KarenLee.com. In her previous life she was a successful chiropractor, but as her kids (now ages 24 and 21) reached middle and high school, she turned in her white coat and left her patients behind to become chief cook, bottle washer and Uber driver. Did she do it all with ease? No, says Dr. Lee. “Any SAHM will tell you that the house is not always perfectly clean and laundry is not always folded and put away. But that's ok as long as you are ok with it. Accept what you can do and do what you can, when you can.”
Besides being a proud mama and natural living educator, Dr. Lee is an advocate for clean air and Autism research. A few years ago, her entire family entered a unique challenge called #pluginforcharity, which called for driving the most miles, using the least amount of gas. They chose Autism Speaks, in honor of a family friend’s son who has Autism, drove daily for a month, racked up over 1000 miles and used NO GAS. It was a family effort, Toyota donated $2,000 to the non-profit, and they still talk about the summer they drove around with no AC for a good cause!
