‘Let It Go’ Girl Performs Ukrainian Anthem in Poland

Our hearts have been breaking ever since the Russian invasion of Ukraine last month, but amid the violence there have been rays of hope. A stand out in the rubble, seven-year-old Amelia Anisovych, has captured the world with her sweet voice.

Singing from the confines of a bomb shelter in Kyev, Amelia’s version of Frozen‘s “Let It Go” left us wiping away tears and inspired. When news broke that she, her brother and grandmother made it safely to Poland, we all breathed a collective sigh of relief.

Now the young Ukrainian is taking her talents to the stage––her dream of becoming a singer fully realized. On Sunday, she performed the Ukrainian national anthem during a charity concert at the Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland and can we just say, she knocked it out of the park.

Seemingly unfazed by the thousands of attendees, Amelia’s powerful performance was part of Together with Ukraine, an event that raised funds to support Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH), which provides aid to Ukrainian victims of Russia’s invasion.

Initially a little shy when she first performed “Let it Go” in a crowded bomb shelter, Amelia seems to have embraced her role as inspirer. Clothed in a traditional embroidered Ukrainian dress and double braids, she bravely sung the anthem, “Ukraine’s glory and freedom are not dead yet” as the audience held up cell phones like torches. The charity event raised $380,000 to continue its aid to Ukrainians.

Amelia has not only gained international attention with her singing, but celebrities are also nodding her way. Idina Menzel and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, the original singer and composer of “Let It Go” have both tweeted out their support to the seven-year-old. The young Ukrainian is proof positive that you are never too young to stand up for your country and to serve as a beacon of hope for those around you.
