The world has been mesmerized the last week over the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, especially when it comes to Prince Louis. While we can never get enough of the future king and his fam, we have equal space in our hearts for Harry, Meghan and their two kiddos, too.
Since officially leaving their royal duties behind and moving to California, the family has led a pretty quiet life. However, they did head back to the U.K. for the Jubilee and have made great use of their time while there. To start, it appears they renewed the lease on Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, where they lived after their wedding. Second, they hosted a backyard birthday for their leading lady, Lilibet, complete with a newly minted photo.
This is the first picture we’ve been treated to since the family’s sweet holiday card back in Dec. 2021. The image, which was taken by friend Misan Harriman, shows baby Lili in a baby blue dress, white bow headband and the most important accessory of all, Harry’s signature red locks.
According to the BBC, the party was hosted on Lilibet’s actual birthday, Sat. Jun. 4 but the photo was not released until this week in an effort to not overshadow Jubilee celebrations. In addition to family and friends, guests enjoyed face painting and cake that was crafted by the same baker who made Meghan and Harry’s wedding cake, Californian pastry chef and food writer Claire Ptak.

We also don’t know exactly which royal family members attended the gathering, including whether or not the Queen made an appearance. Since this is the first time the family has returned together to the U.K. since 2020 (before Lilibet was born), it would also be the first time many of them have the opportunity to meet the one-year-old.
In lieu of gifts directly to Lilibet, adorers have given more than $100,000 in donations to the World Central Kitchen in her honor. The organization, which has been a partner of Harry & Meghan’s Archewell Foundation, help to provide meals in during times of crisis, such as Ukraine and Uvalde, Texas.
