Thousands of miles off the ground isn’t exactly the place most moms envision welcoming their babies, but when one mom gave birth on a JetBlue flight, she earned an unexpected perk—and the birth story of a lifetime.
According to USA TODAY, a flight en route to Fort Lauderdale, Florida from San Juan, Puerto Rico gained an extra passenger when an expectant mom gave birth mid-flight. The crew responded quickly as the mom went into labor and welcomed JetBlue’s “youngest customer to date.”

In honor of the birth JetBlue tweeted that it would be renaming the airplane, which was already aptly named “Born to be Blue” after the baby, and promised more baby gifts to come. In 2017, a baby born onboard the Indian airline Jet Airways earned free flights for life, so it’s a good guess that this newborn has a future of free jet-setting ahead of him as well.
Giving storks a day off. With mom’s okay, we’d like to rename “Born To Be Blue” after our newest baby blue and our youngest customer ever. More baby shower gifts to come! #AirBorn https://t.co/h7tQRY0lwn

The name of the baby has not yet been released, but both mom and baby are reportedly doing fine.
