“Pachamama” Is Netflix’s Gorgeous New Global Movie for Kids

Are you looking for more Netflix movies for kids? (Of course you are.) The streaming service recently announced the debut of Cesar Award-nominated Pachamama and we’ve got the details!

If you haven’t heard of Pachamama, get ready for something your littles won’t stop talking about. The hybrid animation adventure film tells the tale of a 10-year-old boy who has dreams of becoming his village’s shaman. When a villainous Incan overload takes off with a ceremonial golden statue, the little boy (along with his BFF and her smart-talking llama) sets out on a journey to find it.

Writer-director Juan Antin said, of the film, “Pachamama has been, for me, a very long journey, guided by a message that came like an echo from ancient times—a message of love, respect and gratitude to our cherished Earth.” Antin added, “Thanks to Netflix, I am thrilled to share this awe-inspiring story with a global audience.”

So when can you expect to see this international awesomeness on Netflix? The animated film will begin streaming June 2019. But if you’re in the NYC area, you can catch a glimpse of it before this summer: Pachamama will be shown at the 22nd annual New York International Children’s Film Festival on Feb. 24.
