Kids Are Figuring Out Who the ‘Password Child’ Is & Cue the Sibling Rivalry

teens on phone, is one the password kid

Kids are using this ‘password child’ trend from TikTok to find out if they’re the favorite

The kids are onto us. If you want your kids to believe that you love them all equally and don’t have a favorite (because it’s true… mostly), it’s time to check your device and account passwords. Kids are using this viral ‘password child’ TikTok trend to determine the favorite child in their families, and it’s kind of hard to argue with them, TBH.

According to UrbanDictionary, a ‘password child’ is “the obvious favorite child as the majority of their passwords are crafted using their birthdate or name.” And so, to figure out which child their parents like best, kids are asking their parents for their passwords to things… or even just trying passwords with names and birthdays for themselves and their siblings.

But, as the kids of TikTok are discovering, there are ways other than passwords to figure out who the favorite is. Like these kids, who have a visual guide to how they and their siblings rank thanks to fridge real estate.

And this (grown-up) kid who used the “password child” trick to learn that his parents don’t love any of their kids the most—their password is the dog’s name. Relatable, honestly.

Kids are actually starting to turn the trend on its head, sharing what it’s like to find out they aren’t the password child—and wearing that as a badge of teenage rebellion honor.

“I might not be the password child, but I’m most definitely the reason we have house cameras,” one hilarious teen shared.

The real lesson here? Choose a more secure password than your kids’ names and birthdays to avoid account hacking—and your kids figuring out which one is the favorite.
