A Morning Stroll in La Jolla

If you've got a morning free take your guests for a stroll in La Jolla, San Diego's most famous seaside town. Find a park close to the La Jolla Museum of Contemporary Art and then pick up the path that hugs the coastline. Head north along the cliffs where you'll be able to take in beautiful vistas full of rocky cliffs and pounding seas. Stop off at the Children's Pool for a view of the sea lion pups lounging about in the safety of this man made inlet. Continue on the coastline and you'll hit La Jove Cove. Famous for sea lion in habitats, it makes for a uniquely So Cal experience (Just hold your nose if the breeze is coming on shore). If coffee if calling your name, head to Cody's just opposite the Eileen Scripps Park. They do a mean cup of Joe and they have a great brunch menu too. Parking can be hard to find on a busy day, so don't be afraid to park a street or two back form the water and head down

Fun Facts to Tell Your Guests:

  • La Jolla means 'the jewel' in Spanish
  • The Cove is part of a protected marine reserve with a very active water life that snorkelers and scuba divers flock to see
  • The Children's Pool isn't in fact a pool for kids anymore. It was closed to public swimming in 1997 and is now home to part of La Jolla's seal colony.
