Re-trace the trail blazed by the group that would be among the first Americans to see the Pacific Ocean. From 1804 to 1806 the Lewis and Clark expedition carved a path to the west for a young United States, and in modern times you can follow their path from Illinois to Oregon. It’s a commitment to travel the entire trail (3700 miles), but there are options and paths for people choosing to go by car, bike or boat. You will find trail Headquarters in Omaha, Ne, but there are a total of 11 visitor centers along the way. One of the most popular stops is Pompay Pillars in Montana, where you can spot the signature of William Clark carved into the sandstone after he climbed the pillar.
