Ukrainian Girl Who Sang ‘Let It Go’ in Bunker Safely Reaches Poland

Amelia Anisovych, the seven-year-old who went viral with her rendition of “Let It Go” in an underground bunker in Ukraine, is now safe. Her mother Lilia told The Sun that her daughter, son and the pair’s grandmother endured the two-day trip and have crossed into Poland.

And it seems like the timing couldn’t be soon enough. Lilia reflects, “We were down there for a whole week with not enough food. To go to the toilet we had to run upstairs as his missiles were flying overhead…I was so sad to wave goodbye to my children but it was the best thing to do to make sure they are safe.”

Since the posting of Amelia’s video, the young singer has gone viral. Inspiring hope and garnering praise from celebrities, the world has circled the Ukrainian seven-year-old with as much support as we can possibly give from so far away. Kristen Anderson-Lopez, one of the composers of Let It Go, has even tweeted to the “little girl with a beautiful voice.”

If you missed the news the first time, Amelia was captured by Marta Smekhova while hiding in a bunker in Kyiv. Marta, who requested permission to Lilia to video the little girl as she sang, shared the now viral post on Facebook on Mar. 3. Despite the nearly 200 people crammed in the shelter, Lilia shares “Even babies stopped crying while she sang and the arguments stopped.”

While we all bring a collective sigh of relief that Amelia is safe, her parents Lilia and Roman have remained in Ukraine. According to The Sun, the business couple who own a medical supplies company are remaining behind in order to cook meals for troops. We can’t even imagine the strength it took to send their children on while they stayed back.

One thing’s for certain: this family has hearts of gold.
