Make Tracks for the Best Train Museums in the Country

You’re never too old to ride the rails. To help you discover (and explore) a few awesome engines, we tracked down the best train museums from coast to coast. Whether you’re a big buff or a little buff, these historic sites, antique collections, and interactive exhibits will keep you clickety-clacking down the track. Flip through the album to see them all.

Nevada State Railroad Museum – Carson City, Nv

The museum has recently re-opened its doors after being closed for repairs. Let your conductors-in-training step right up to an HO-scale (that’s 1/87 scale in layman’s terms) model railroad that depicts Nevada railroading life during the last century. They’ll get a kick out of pushing the buttons (you know they’re good at it!) to make it go or watching volunteer operators expertly drive these mini wonders. The regular-sized exhibits are wonderful here too, with restored and replica locomotives and trains to ride on sunny summer days. It’s the best little secret in the state!
